More than 30 Percent of Wheels Wearing Italian Rubber
ROME, Georgia, November 10, 2004 SEMA, the
Specialty Equipment Market Association founded in 1963,
represents the $29 billion specialty automotive industry of
5,727 member companies. It is the authoritative source for
research, data, trends and market growth information for automakers
and the specialty auto products industry. The industry provides
appearance, performance, comfort, convenience and technology
products for passenger and recreational vehicles.
The SEMA Show’s reputation as a must-attend event for everyone
connected to the automotive aftermarket attracted more than 100,000
industry professionals to the Las Vegas Convention Center November
2-5. This years show covered over one million square feet
of space and included more than 1,900 exhibitor
displays.
The SEMA Show has become a truly global event. This year,
approximately 240 international exhibitors from 24 countries
showcased their products and attendees represented approximately
140 different countries. More than 250 companies made up this
years Performance Tires and Wheels Section located in the
South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, and Pirelli had a
major presence among them.
Pirelli scored a major hit with the aftermarket wheel
specialists with both their P Zero ultra-high-performance
passenger tires and their Scorpion Zero SUV and light truck
radials; more than 35 percent of the wheel specialist fitted units
in the South Hall showing off their designs with Pirelli
tires.
Pirelli used the SEMA Show to announce the biggest and wildest
Scorpion Zero ever, the 315/40R26 Scorpion Zero
Asimmetrico. With an extra load rating of 120, this tire sets
itself apart as the strongest 26-inch truck tire on the market.
Suitable for the most extreme truck and SUV conversions, the
315/40R26 is one of four new sizes in Pirellis Scorpion Zero
Asimmetrico range arriving in January.
Also, the auto manufacturers present in the SEMA North
HallsFord, GM, Chrysler and Hondaall displayed
vehicles on Pirelli tires. Of the vehicles on display, 33
percent were fitted with Pirellis.
The highlight was undoubtedly Pirelli’s presence at Ford,
with every imaginable tire and wheel combination being shown off on
the new Mustang, which was recognized by SEMA as the most accessory
friendly new vehicle for aftermarket tuners. Pirelli and Ford
celebrated together with a concert and reception featuring the
Beach Boys.
