30 Inch Tire

PIRELLI INTRODUCES WORLD'S FIRST
FULL PRODUCTION 30-INCH LIGHT TRUCK TIRE

Twenty Inch Strong Plus Ten at New York International Auto Show
NEW YORK, April 13, 2006- Guy Mannino, president of Pirelli Tyre North America, in conjunction with Myles Kovacs, president and co-founder of Twenty Inch Strong (TISTM) wheels, chose a press conference at the New York International Auto Show today to introduce the world's first 30-inch production tire and wheel package for the ultimate in plus fitments.
While other tire manufacturers may have shown "one-off" 30-inch tire projects, Pirelli has beaten everyone to the punch by putting its 315/30R30 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico into full production as the flagship of its light truck/SUV tire range.
Beginning with the introduction of the 315/40VR25 Scorpion Zero at SEMA in 2003, this marks the fourth straight year (26-inch in 2004 and 28-inch at last year's SEMA) that Pirelli has literally exploded the envelope of ultimate tire fitments, and all thanks to Pirelli's revolutionary MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System) production process.

Armed with the technological and competitive advantage of the patented MIRS process, Pirelli is able to produce cost-effective small runs of specialized high-performance tires in its Rome, Georgia, manufacturing facility. Since its official opening in August of 2002, this plant has been at the forefront of Pirelli's leadership in specialized light truck plus fitments, exclusively with the Scorpion Zero product line, offering sizes from 16-inch to 28-inch diameter, and now, of course, 30-inch.
At the NYIAS press conference, Mannino commented "The 30-inch Scorpion Zero is not about selling huge volumes; it's more about satisfying a highly visible niche opportunity and making a statement in the market place. Our past initiatives in this product area have driven huge interest in "plus" sizing on light trucks, to a point where 22-inch tires can almost be considered the norm. For sure, we attract plenty of imitators! However, it's a little like the fashion business - haute couture drives the mainstream fashion trend and its entirely appropriate that the 30-inch Pirelli Scorpion is the haute couture of light truck tires."
