The GP of Flanders belonged to the factory KTM riders of Tyla Rattray and Marc De Reuver but Pirelli were able to shine thanks to the effort of Kenneth Gundersen and David Philippaerts, who picked up the next two positions in the standings. The former, steering the Ricci Racing Yamaha, claimed his first podium for over eighteen months and also his first on return to the MX2 class since 2001 by using a Scorpion MX Soft 410 combo. The Italian earned victory in the opening race thanks to using Scorpion MX MidSoft 32 but was only able to notch thirteenth in the second moto after a crash on the first lap; Philippaerts was still able to take fourth overall.
